JAPANESE TAIKO DRUMMING IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

ABOUT

HOKUTO TAIKO DOJO

OUR STORY

After spending a decade training in the art of wadaiko (Japanese drumming) with master taiko drummer sensei Ishikura Takemasa, Jason Seymore made the decision in 2014 to leave his native Florida home and sow new roots in New Hampshire. After discovering that there were no schools or groups dedicated to Japanese drumming in the state, Jason made it his mission to bring the joys of taiko to the beautiful communities in New Hampshire. Today, Hokuto Taiko Dojo (translated to "northeast drumming school") is working hard as the first and only school for Japanese drumming in the state to create value in the local communities through education, performance, and cultural immersion. To learn more, please visit our About Us page.

OUR VISION

As a 501(c)(3) organization, Hokuto Taiko Dojo's vision is to create a vibrant and diverse community of people in New Hampshire and New England who share the same passion and support of Japanese culture; to see a world come closer together through the sound and teaching of wadaiko (Japanese drumming).

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide and engage with local communities throughout the state of New Hampshire, and New England with the opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture through the art of "wadaiko" or, Japanese drumming, as well as other Japanese performing arts; with the intent on promoting positive images of Japanese culture and history, thereby promoting greater cross-cultural understanding of the country of Japan and its deeply-rooted heritage.

Hokuto Taiko Dojo is formally recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The school exists only to serve the communities of New Hampshire. Any and all support is greatly appreciated.
